McNair Law Firm announced today that environmental attorney Pamela Baker has rejoined the firm’s Columbia office as a shareholder.

Pam brings to the firm a wealth of experience in navigating environmental issues. She represents clients in state and federal enforcement actions related to environmental and health statutes and regulations. She regularly serves as counsel in complex Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) negotiations with the EPA and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC), as well as in matters related to brownfield redevelopment and landfill compliance. Pam also has substantial experience in strategic permitting matters, including air and water permits, voluntary cleanup contracts, and renewable/sustainable energy projects.

“Pam is highly respected by her peers for her practical approach to legal issues, sound judgment, and strategic thinking,” said Michael Beal, Columbia’s managing shareholder. “Her return illustrates McNair’s commitment to continue adding and developing great lawyers to serve the evolving needs of our clients.”

In addition to a thriving legal practice, Pam is actively involved in leadership roles at the state and local levels. Most recently, she was elected to the Environment and Natural Resources Section Council of the South Carolina Bar. She is a Liberty Fellow, a graduate of Leadership South Carolina, and has served as a board member for Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands and the South Carolina Bar Foundation. Pam is also a former commissioner of the South Carolina Commission on Women, treasurer of The Links, Inc. Columbia Chapter, and vice chair for the Leadership South Carolina Board of Trustees.

Pam earned both her B.S. and J.D. from the University of South Carolina. Prior to law school, she worked for eight years with SCDHEC’s Bureau of Land and Waste Management.
