On March 15, 2013, the America Invents Act will implement the First To File rule, which is the most extensive revision of US patent law in over 50 years. These sweeping changes could affect employment agreements, employee handbooks and employee policies. McNair attorneys Doug Kim, Rita McKinney and Reggie Gay will hold a practical discussion on February 12, 2013 from 3:00 -5:00 p.m., followed by a networking opportunity from 5:00-6:30 p.m., at the McNair’s Greenville office to address the new law.
Doug Kim will discuss the America Invents Act, the changes including the First to File, the new procedures for challenging patents, the new patent application process, the post-grant review of patents and third party challenges to innovation. Rita McKinney and Reggie Gay will follow to discuss the impact of the Milliken v. Morin case on employee agreements, nondisclosure agreements and invention assignment agreements.
