A community forum was held Thursday, January 12th to discuss the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s economic impact. The university’s economic data as well as USC’s impact across South Carolina was revealed along with a panel discussion including USC professor of economics Doug Woodward, USCB Chancellor Jane Upshaw, Managing Shareholder and CEO of McNair Law Firm David Tigges and other local business leaders. David Tigges represented the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. According to their study, USCB yields $74.6 million in annual spending in the Beaufort area, placing it fourth among the university’s eight campuses in its contribution to the local economy.
The event was held at the USCB student center on the Beaufort County campus and was co-sponsored by the Beaufort and Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Chambers of Commerce at 10:00 am and was free to the public.
